We are proud of the quality of education received by students in the Lewiston Public Schools, and recognize that this quality is the result of hard work by teachers and support personnel.
One concrete way to support classroom teachers is through Impact Grants. Grant requests are reviewed and selected through a competitive process. Top ranked applications are selected and recipients are announced in the spring for awards which may be spent in the following July-June fiscal year.
LIFE also administers several recognition programs for staff. Nominations for the Baskin Award are due in February and announced in March. Teacher of the Year nominations are due in June, and are announced in August; ESP of the Year nominations are due in March and are announced in May.
Each year, L.I.F.E. sponsors an educational grant award program to benefit the students and staff of the Lewiston School District. Entitled “Impact Grants,” the program is designed to provide awards of up to $1,000 to teachers and other interested citizens and groups to fund innovative educational projects.
Each year the Baskin Award is awarded to one outstanding elementary teacher in the school district. The recipient receives a check for $1,000.
