About Us
The Foundation started in 1984 as the Lewiston School District Trust Funds. In 1996, we became Lewiston Independent Foundation for Education (LIFE) to allow greater flexibility for the raising, managing and distribution of funds.
LIFE has funded past projects that include literacy packets, given to every student entering kindergarten; the 4th Grade Rendezvous; 6th Grade Space Day; and the elementary math competition. LIFE also awards every elementary school an arts grant.
Our Vision
The Lewiston Independent Foundation for Education is dedicated to enriching and enhancing the learning experience of all students in the Lewiston School District by investing its resources in education and youth.
Our Mission
The mission of the Lewiston Independent Foundation for Education is to generate and distribute resources that enrich and enhance educational opportunities for all students; to encourage teachers to implement innovative educational programs; and to award scholarships to Lewiston School District students. LIFE’s Board recognizes this is best accomplished by combined commitment and collaboration with the school district, the school board, businesses, individuals, and organizations in our community.
Our Goals
- To encourage quality educational and extracurricular projects and activities;
- To serve as a catalyst for public- private partnerships which benefit Lewiston's youth; and
- To raise public awareness of the responsibility we all share for the quality of our local schools.
